Here is an interesting video of Tinker Hatfield talking about Jordan's final shoe in the 1-23 line.
Behind the scenes
Jumpman Logo
"Every good brand deserves a good logo."
After the first two Air Jordan shoes, Peter Moore, the lead designer, left Nike. Tinker Hatfield was now the one in charge of designing the Air Jordan. Hatfield came across a sketch that Moore had done based on a photograph of Jordan in his trademark spread-eagle dunk pose. Hatfield incorporated this sketch into the Air Jordan III. The Air Jordan III, released in 1988, was the first Air Jordan shoe to feature the Jumpman logo, replacing the previous Jordan "Wings" logo, which had been a feature of the Air Jordans I and II. The "Jumpman" logo became the definitive symbol of the Jordan brand. Nike's "Swoosh" symbol was moved to the back of the shoe and was eventually removed altogether starting with the Air Jordan VII.

Tinker
Tinker Hatfield is a renowned designer of many of Nike's most popular and innovative athletic shoe designs, most notably the Air Jordan line, from Jordan III(3) to XV(15), the twentieth anniversary Air Jordan XX(20), the final numbered Air Jordan, the XXIII(23), and other athletic sneakers. He claims that he designed the world's first "cross training" shoes called Nike Air Trainers. Here's a picture of him holding the Jordan XI(11).
